Bring your GPS to SERA and go Geocaching!
A lot of cavers have a GPS unit, and many of them are also Geocachers, so we will have a Geocaching course for anyone that is interested. The course features many different kinds of caches, and will be a challenge for novices as well as more advanced geocachers.
What is "Geocaching" you ask? You can read all about it here: www.geocaching.com
It's a lot like hunting for Easter eggs, but you can do it any time. Adults like the challenge and the exercise, and kids love it too!
It's really simple to get started. You just need a GPS unit (and just about everybody seems to have one of those, but there will be a few that you can borrow, please bring one if you have one).
We will have instructions on how to set up your GPS unit to find the caches. You follow the GPS to the location, and then start looking. Some caches are big, but some are (very) small and hard to find. We will even have some puzzles that you will need to solve. Are you up to the challenge?
Once you find a cache, you will record your name on the log, and if it is a larger container, you can trade something of yours for something you find in the cache (if you are new, it is okay to just take an item since we will have lots of extra stuff, but try to bring something small to swap if you have anything).
Stop by registration to get started!
